Swara, Zuwarah [z-], Zuara, Hafen- und Oasenstadt in Libyen, 105 km westlich von Tripolis am Mittelmeer, 260 000 Einwohner; Fischerei; Saline; Getreideanbau, Dattelpalmen; Alfagrasgewinnung.
 
 
1375 als Punta dar Zoyara in einer katalanischen Seekarte erstmals erwähnt, bildete Suwara 1912-43 den westlichsten Vorposten der italienischen Kolonie »Libia«.
